There are opportunities for small group or one on one time with the teachers, followed by large group activities where attention span, following directions, and participating in group activities is encouraged. These activities are broken up with opportunities for art and music fun as well as outdoor/indoor play and healthy snacks. There will be a chart on the wall in each room listing the times each activity takes place each day. This schedule is kept consistent so that even though a child can not tell time, he or she soon learns that after group time comes lunch. Consistency in a child’s day encourages his or her feeling of security.
Conversational Spanish will be offered in the 31/2 - 41/2 age room each day as part of the curriculum.
Classes
The Mother’s Day Out school year runs from the day after Labor Day in September to the third week of May. Preschool hours are 9:00 am to 2:30 pm. Early morning care is offered from 8:10 am for an additional cost of $3.00 per morning. This care must be prearranged with the Director to allow for the proper teacher/child coverage.
Curriculum
The curriculum used is custom designed through a combined use of Wee Learn, Creative Curriculum, and the Developmentally Appropriate Practice. Using the term “MEPSS,” the lesson plans guarantee that your child is being exposed to those specific concepts that will enhance his or her mental, emotional, physical, social and spiritual development in an age appropriate manner. This curriculum has come under advisement of the lower school curriculum advisor for St. Paul Christian Academy.
Snow Days
The Mother’s Day Out Program will follow the same closure schedule as St. Paul Christian Academy. In the event of inclement weather, please see the school closing lists on channels 2, 4 and 5. If the weather becomes hazardous during the day, Mother’s Day Out will close. We will make every effort to send out a program wide e-mail, or you may call Director Ann Chassereau's cell phone at 479-2136. We will do everything in our power to keep your child safe and feeling secure in case of any kind of emergency situation and will practice fire and tornado drills on a regular basis.
