What We Believe

God our Father – We believe in the Holy Trinity. He is one God who exists in three persons as God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. We believe that God is sovereign in His love, power, understanding, presence and judgments. He is our compassionate Creator who never changes. (Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 4:39, 6:4-9; Matthew 28:18-20;  Exodus 34:5-7; Malachi 3:6; Hebrews 13:8)

Jesus our Savior and LordWe believe that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is truly God and truly man in His deity. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. He was physically raised from the dead by God for our justification and to give us the assurance of everlasting life. He is presently the head of the church, seated at the right hand of God serving as our High Priest and advocate. We believe in His second coming  to judge the world and His ultimate victory over His enemies.(Romans 3:21-26; 5:1-11; Philippians 2:5-11; John 1:1-3; Colossians 1:13-20; Acts 1:9-11; 2 Peter 3:3-13; Revelation 19:11-16; Psalm 110: 1-2; Mark 1:1)

The Holy Spirit our Helper We believe, as Christians, that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. He regenerates, empowers and enables believers to understand Scripture, to testify about the Lord Jesus and to bring glory to God. He convicts us, counsels us, and He conforms us into the likeness of Jesus Christ. The church is unified by the Holy Spirit for the work of fulfilling the Great Commandment and Great Commission. (Matthew 28:18-20; John 14:25-27, 15:26, 16:5-15; Romans 8:29; 1 -17; Corinthians 6:19-20, 12:4-11;  2 Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 5:22-25; 2 Timothy 1:7; Genesis 1:2)

The Bible We believe in the inspiration and infallibility of the Holy Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments (66 books) to be the inspired Word of God. It is without error and a complete revelation of His will and the final authority for Christian faith and living. The Bible is absolute truth. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Hebrews 1:1-2, 4:12; Psalm 119:160; Deuteronomy 8:3)

Salvation We believe that we are saved through Jesus Christ, the living God who came to die so we may have eternal life. God freely and graciously gave His one and only Son to all His creation. We did not influence God's decision to save us. He saved us according to His eternal plan. We are not to take credit for our salvation, nor are we saved by our works but it is only through faith in our gracious Lord. The gospel is the power of our salvation for everyone to believe. (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9, Ephesians 1:3-12; Romans 10: 8-10; John 1: 12-13; Matthew 4:17)

Sanctification We believe that God’s plan is to conform every Christian into the image of Jesus Christ. By faith we strive to have the same humble, servant obedient attitude of Christ. This lifelong commitment and process of transformation is called sanctification. (John 17:17-18; Romans 8:29, 12:1-2; 2 Corinthians 5:17, 6:1; Matthew 5:13-16; 1 Peter 1:13-21)

The Ordinances of ChristWe believe in the practice of water Baptism and Communion. Baptism* is the public profession of an individual’s faith in Christ. It symbolizes the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus and is not a means of salvation. Communion is a memorial to Jesus Christ. It signifies God’s provision for our redemption through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ’s body (the bread) and blood (the cup). (Matthew 3:13-17, 26:20-35; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26; Acts 2:38, 41-42; Romans 6:1-11)

  • We believe in the dedication (not baptism) of our children to the Lord. As an act of faith, demonstrated by their parents or guardians, children should be brought before the church and committed to the care of the Lord and His people.

Membership We believe in accountability. As Christians, we make a commitment to God by faith. This is demonstrated on a continuous basis as we pursue fellowship, Bible study, prayer, giving, acts of service and evangelism. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. "Let us not forsake our meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Hebrews 10:24-25 (Colossians 1:18; Ephesians 1:22-23, 4:11-13; Acts 2:42-47)
